Tribute to a True Love

I always thought if two people love each other, nothing but death can separate them.⠀

I believed that if you try hard enough, if you love enough, you will sustain a beautiful relationship and overcome any issues on the path.⠀

Oh how naive was I?!⠀

⠀

Life is complicated at times, love doesn’t conquer all. We all come with our own set of childhood wounds and sometimes we can’t help but be scared and build walls and try to protect our vulnerable heart.⠀

⠀

After three and a half years I had to part ways with one of my greatest loves.⠀

It was only very recently that I realised the scope of his suffering. ⠀

The whole time, even though I loved him so much, I was only able to see the world through my own lens and was puzzled why things were the way they were.⠀

I was angry and hurt for years and now I know he did the best he could with the resources he was given. ⠀

⠀

I believe I did too.

If he will be remembered for one thing, it's teaching me love.

In a very painful and unexpected way, but hey... They say the art of loving is if you can love the other person even when they don't love you back, even if they hurt you countless times.⠀

Now I am at the point of once again doubting a romantic dream! ⠀

⠀

Is there happily ever after? ⠀

Is happily ever after even necessary, can we open to love and stay single? ⠀

We surely can, but as a Taurus, I dream of home, cuddles, freshly cooked food and wine for two by the fireplace.⠀

This is the first time I am single in the last 10 years. It’s scary and exciting at the same time! ⠀

Time to see who I truly am when not defined by someone else.⠀
